My Crippling Fear Of Horror Games

If you've come to this blog hoping to find an interesting take on horror, you're out of luck. I never play horror games, and I instantly regret the rare times I do. I don't understand what it is. I can get through horror movies easy breezy. But the moment I touch something like Five Nights at Freddy's or Little Nightmares, I go into an absolute state of panic.

Even if a game isn't horror based but has the occasional jumpscare, I freak out and don't want to keep playing. I still have not dared to touch Doki Doki Literature Club even though I know the scares are kinda low budget and the art is cute.

I believe that people like me are like this because we grew up in the dawn of Flash. This was when games were easily made and easily published for free on any game portal website. This was also around the same time where "screamers", or deceptive games that place jumpscares every two minutes, were a thing. I was around elementary school age when these games were popping up everywhere, and I hated every minute of those times.

I've slowly been working my way to try and fix this. The most recent horror game that I actually got the nerve to finish was actually Little Nightmares. So appreciate this recommendation, because it'll be rare or never that I review horror on this blog.
