Facebook Ruins Oculus VR With Mandated FB Account
This shouldn't be a surprise given this company's notorious reputation for bad decisions, but this is no less offensive to VR enthusiasts and future VR users. The last thing anyone wants is Facebook getting their privacy invading software into people's VR headsets and cameras.
Even though I'm not quite into the VR scene myself, I know many people who are, and I am feeling second hand outrage as a result. The VR market is very limited, and the Oculus is the top competitor. This stunt creates another example of Facebook trying to insert it's tentacles into every facet of our world.
Facebook may have not won entirely though. A small silver lining is that Germany halted any Oculus sales due to a violation of consumer freedom. If only we had that kind of corporation accountabiliy in the U.S.
